 Why do I get a Messaging Exception when trying to connect to the email server? Export knowledge base Export     SubscribeSubscribe      Show article info

If you get messaging exceptions when you try to connect to your email server:

  • Double-check that the email account settings in the email ticket system is correct. Test these settings by clicking the "Test connection" button in the email ticket system configuration.
  • Test your email settings with a normal email client to see if you can connect.
  • Make sure that the email server isn't having problems. This problem usually happens if the email server time-out or are having instability issues.
  • If you are using imaps or pop3s make sure the email server is using a valid SSL certificate
