Solve encoding problem on MySQL Export knowledge base Export     SubscribeSubscribe      Show article info

If you have problems with languages such as Russian or Chinese or emojis not displaying correctly in VisionFlow and you are using MySQL then your database may be installed with the wrong character set.

You need to use character set utf8mb4 and collation utf8mb4_unicode_ci.

To solve this you need to change the character encoding on the database. See steps below:

  • Set character encodings as utf8mb4 at MySql.ini file if it's not set as utf8mf4 (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4404768/cant-insert-russian-text-into-mysql-database)
  • Convert DB and tables into utf8mb4 with the HeidiSql or manual scripts if it's not set as utf8mb4 (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6115612/how-to-convert-an-entire-mysql-database-characterset-and-collation-to-utf-8)
  • Restart DB and application

NOTE: The minimum requirements for VisionFlow is MySQL 5.6.
