If you have problems with languages such as Russian or Chinese in VisionFlow and are using MySQL then your database may be installed with the wrong character set.
To solve this you need to change the character encoding on the database. See steps below :
- Check for character encoding (https://www.blueboxcloud.com/insight/blog-article/getting-out-of-mysql-character-set-hell)
- Set character encodings as utf-8 at MySql.ini file if it's not set as utf-8 (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4404768/cant-insert-russian-text-into-mysql-database)
- Convert DB and tables into utf-8 with the HeidiSql or manual scripts if it's not set as utf-8 (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6115612/how-to-convert-an-entire-mysql-database-characterset-and-collation-to-utf-8)
- Restart DB and application
NOTE: if your mysql version is higher then 5.5.2 use encoding utf8mb4 and collation utf8mb4_unicode_ci otherwise use utf8 and utf8_unicode_ci but keep in mind that in case of utf8_unicode_ci 4byte symbols like emojis will not be saved.
