Field description - Company

 

 

Short description:

 

The Company field represents a company that the issue is related to in some way, usually the end customer that work on the issue is done for.

 

 

Details:

 

 

Default name: Company

Terminology variations: None

 

In-Use: Optional. This field can be set to be used in the issue field configuration.

 

Mandatory: Optional. This field can be set as mandatory, but need not be.

 

Data type: A Company, which need not be the same as the Reporter Company.

 

Access restrictions: (Default) Created: "Read/Write" for all internal users,  and "No access" for external or support users..  Editing: "Read/Write" for all internal users,  and "No access" for external or support users.

 

Relationships/Dependencies: 

Project > Settings > General, section "General issue settings":

"Company" and "Reporter" fields should be dependent: If this setting is checked, then setting the Reporter will set the Company field (to the reporter's company), and when the Company field is set, it limits what users can be set in the Reporter field ( to users belonging to the seleceted Company.)

 

Affected by these settings: 

 

General > Settings > Issue configurations > Issue rules.

Company can be used in issue rules, either as a criterion, or being set in the rule action.

 

Use cases: 

The Company field tells you which company/customer the email/issue/task/request is for, even if someone else reported the issue.

If you use both fields, Company can be the same as the Reporter company, or different - such as when the Reporter (who belongs to company X) which is a customer, reports a problem that comes from their customer (who belongs to company Y).
