2013‑10‑07 ‑ Service disruption due to DDos attack Export knowledge base Export     SubscribeSubscribe      Show article info

Due to a DDos attack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack) VisionProject was unavailable between 09:46 AM and 10:02 AM (CET/UTC+1), and then again between 10:12 AM and 10:17 AM.

After the initial attack our firewall and network was still under quite heavy load and the performance was been affected for a while. We have received information that the problem was finally resolved after the second disruption at 10:17 AM. There may be further disruptions during the day even though the initial attack now has been prevented.  We will keep this KB article updated with more information if we get more information about this.

DDos attacks happen from time to time unfortunately since they are done by hackers that seek to destroy and make havoc. The only thing you can do as a service provider is to create as good protection as possible for these kind of events. We have a built in DDos protection mechanism in our firewall that our network provider manages for us. This means that they can resolve these types of attacks fairly quickly.

Disruptions to our service of any kind are very unfortunate and we are very sorry that this have affected our customers and the inconvenience caused!
